Pattaya Temples &Tiger Zoo

Mondays, Thursdays & Saturdays 08:30 – 15:00
This is very varied day tour. In sightseeing around Pattaya itself, we’ll visit
the viewpoint at the top of the hill atthe southern end of the bay. Further a field in the countryside, the first temple we visit is the Viharnra Sien at the Wat Yarnnasagwararam (known locally in short as Wat Yarn), which is an extraordinary display of Chinese and Thai architecture and art.

Opened in 1993, it was donated to the Thai People, on behalf of all of Chinese-Thai people living in Thailand. From the exterior, the temple building looks totally Chinese, and on the ground floor, the entire exhibition is given to Chinese arts and crafts some of which have been donated by the Chinese Government. There are interesting scale models of the Terracotta Army in Xian and the Great Wall of China. There are lots of interesting exhibition rooms on the second and third floors. The second temple we visit is called Wat Shi Jan.

This is a huge Buddha image, the tallest Buddha image in the world, which has been carved into the rock face by laser on the Khao Chee Chan mountainside. Built to celebrate HM the King’s Golden Jubilee in 1999, the Buddha image is outlined with thick gold, and can be seen for miles around. The next stop, where we also have lunch, is the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo. You’ll find the description above.
